HOW TO GET STARTED | THink of more than one way to earn a living. Be open. Think of new skills and new projects. Stay focused and confident. Do not stop working for too long but get enough rest. Do not party too hard. Every thing is good in moderation. Forgive yourself and other's mistakes and learn from them the lesson of how to do it better. Appreciate support and mentors and do it in return. Find mentors. Do not make enemies. Keep an open mind and do not take things personally. Accept criticism and do not give too much of it back. Take continuing education courses to keep up on new skills. Volunteer when you have the time and money. Stay friendly with the community and charities and neighborhood organizations. Learn how to balance time alone and time with others.
MUST HAVE TRAITS | optimism, dedication, cheerfulness, friendliness, entrepreneurial spirit, communication skills, sacrifice, love of art, music, socializing, forgiving nature, sensualness, love of life, confidence, able to accept criticism. I think that it is good to have a versatility and a decisive attitude. It is good to have a wide range of interests and experiences and to have a good grasp of communication arts skills and new media skills as well as a background in fine art material use. You need to be a self starter and to follow through. I like to be able to research and to immerse myself in all aspects of a project through all modes, auditory, visual, language, written, sound, aesthetic, high and low art influences.
beginnings
how I got started | I have been a creative person since childhood. I was winning awards in grade school and given art exhibitions at Lever House in first grade on. I studied with my grandmother's support at Carnegie Hall, Museum of Modern Art in children's classes while I lived in Bronx, New York. When my parents and brothers and I moved to Rockland County I gave up the opportunity to study at Hunter Model School and worked as a young adult on local newspapers and after school classes in the literary magazines, theatre arts, newspaper and private classes with Richard Pousette Dart and Tony Smith. I also continued to play the piano and to attend Leonard Bernstein lectures. I started Cornell University as a teen and chose to stay there and take the best courses in all liberal arts and fine arts through the school of Human Ecology. I always had "fragile" health and thought of myself as a progeny of Robert Louis Stevenson. I married by college sweetheart and worked in human resources and labor relations until we had our first child, in New York City and then the second daughter. After that, I spent much time teaching them and their friends to express themselves through creativity of words, music, trash to treasure as I had learned through the Bank Street School. Later we lived in Japan and I taught high school English and studied fine art. Upon the return I worked in development and education at Museum of Modern Art. My kids were needing attention and my exhusband wanted me to be available. Later on I ended up in art school after encouragement from MOMA educators including top connoisseurs. I fell in love with the work of the best artists and pursued it full time after the most encouragement. There was no turning back after a point and now I am painting and making art and music on canvas and on line.

inspiration
why this job?| I do not know if I chose it. It followed me and stalked me until I gave in through a massive attack of love at second sight! I admired people in the field and realized I had to do it for myself.

love
why I love this job!| The variety and surprise of every project. The pleasure and healing that it gives me and others. It is a challenge and fun. I keep my options open and all roads lead to success. I like meeting new people who are enthusiastic about my art and our shared visions.

work
my typical day| I wake up between 8 and 10 and go online while I have some coffee. Organize my home and mail...take a walk and plan. Make a list of what to do for next three days and for next six months. Yoga, meditate, work in studio or at home. Lunch, more of same,reading,television,music...calls. Classes at Julliard in music composition. Facebook. Two or three days a week I attend opening receptions, parties. Some meetings two or three days a week. More phone calls. I have also acted in several movies including "The Dead Life" and it is premiering around town. My art work and my acting is used for various independent film and art magazine projects so I have to do that from time to time.

challenges
what they are | budget, not feeling down in the dumps, listening to others, thinking of new ways to promote oneself..helping younger and older artists and not pigeon holing yourself or others. continuing education, confidence LOVE of oneself, one's work and of the world, nature, life, others. Flexibility, tenacity, resources, space, money, lots of spunk, solitude, application of detail and general, abstract and concrete. I have to stay current on all new media and materials and cutting edge thoughts. I like to have a media presence and continued exhibition schedule. I need to always juggle the socializing, the painting, the research, the composition, the learning, the time in New York City and elsewhere and the finances.

upside
all about growth | All. INternational and national development I have a few agents and galleries and explore alumni events and networks. Self acutalization, freedom, hierarchy of needs/the top Friendship with like minded people who want to get to know a creative artist.
