beginnings
how I got started | I started as an intern in the Underwriting department of BankBoston while in school.
inspiration
why this job?| I was always interested in finance and real
estate, so I always kept one foot in the door while pursing becoming a
professional musician. While my father supported my music, he always
advised me to have a back up plan because of the odds of making a
successful living as a musician.
love
why I love this job!| What I love about my job is that every day
is something different. I could never be a 9-5 guy. When I walk into
work on any given day, I know that something, someone, or a phone call,
will completely change the course of my day. It can be quite stressful,
but never, ever, boring. Plus, I get to interact on a day to day basis
with a lot of different people, and I really like dealing with people.
work
my typical day| There is no typical day. Every day is different.
Some times I am on the road all day visiting accounts, like realtors,
attorneys, financial planners, and builders/developers. I spend a lot of
time on the telephone, emailing, coordinating and following up on
revolving pipeline clients with my assistant whose job it is to manage
the pipeline and interact with clients on a day to day basis.
challenges
what they are | The biggest challenge in our profession is the
ever changing landscape of lending. You have to be able to adapt to your
products and programs that always have policy changes based on market
conditions. If you don't know your products, you're dead!
upside
all about growth | The growth potential in the job is essentially
limitless and very rewarding (not just monetarily), but the fantastic
and brilliant people that you encounter while growing and exceeding in
this industry is priceless.
