how I got started | About 12 years ago as CSR (customer service representative) for a Captive/Exclusive Agent.

why this job?| The hours were perfect for my family!

why I love this job!| I love helping people. The interaction with
people every day. I love being able to find the best rate I can for
them and trying to save them money. I get them "the best bang for their
bucks."

my typical day| A typical day in the office would be answering
phone calls all day long, explaining insurance, quoting new business,
selling new business, handling claims, billing, and handling all the
needs of our clients.
challenges
what they are | You have to take each day as it comes. Every day
is a new day in insurance. Be pleasant and helpful, no matter how nice
or rude the person is on the phone. You have to treat everyone the same
with excellent, friendly service. Take a deep breath and be patient if
you have an irate client. You have to listen to what they have to say.
upside
all about growth | The growth potential is the capability of
owning your own agency one day. I plan on purchasing the Matador agency.
Usually you start out as a licensed CSR, customer service
representative, and then you get your license and you are then able to
get commissions on policies that you sell if your employer offers that.
You will grow your income being licensed.
