beginnings
how I got started | I love the world of work. I worked for 5+ years in Corporate HR, then switched to non-profit work. I have worked in the areas of Employer-supported benefit programs, indirect program management, career counseling and employment training. A friend told me about CCSF, and I started here 10 years ago in a small job which grew.

inspiration
why this job?| I love to hear people's stories and to jump into their shoes. I have always been fascinated by work and how people choose to do what they do. I had the advantage of family support to do college, so I thought I would feel good about giving back.

love
why I love this job!| Variety, people's individual stories, helping others succeed, feeling like I make a difference in other's lives, adequate pay and status.

work
my typical day| Answering phone calls, meeting individuals to review education plans, going to meetings, talking to other community agencies we contract with, teaching classes.

challenges
what they are | lack of stability in our funding sources. Burn out from dealing with difficult people, sometimes lack of recognition for excellence.

upside
all about growth | Not much now, because of funding cuts, but sure to be needed in the future.
