am the owner of My Gym Palo Alto and co-owner of My Gym San Carlos.
After 20 years in scientific sales I decided to purchase a My Gym
franchise. I have always had a strong interest in sports and fitness,
having coached my three girls in volleyball, basketball and track.
Additionally I enjoy running a business and my passion to connect with
families makes this job great.

HOW TO GET STARTED | Observe some classes. Contact corporate to
express interest in having a franchise. Then, if applicable go to
corporate for a discovery day. Pick a territory that is open. Train
prior to opening. Work at one to see if it is truly something you love
to do. Secure ways to finance opening business, meet with planning
department in city you wish to open business. Have a good commercial
real estate agent picked out. Choose a good contractor.
Responsibilities include owner/operator, buying supplies, bookkeeping,
and payroll, running staff meetings, marketing, and communicating with
corporate office.

why I love this job!| I love to perform all aspects of running a
business. Secondly, I really enjoy interacting with the kids and parents
and knowing that I am enriching the lives of so many children. These
children gain self confidence and feel great about themselves. It also
is very gratifying to watching my staff teach and nurture the kids to be
the best that they can be.

what they are | Hiring and keeping good staff. I am very
selective in whom I hire. Having the staff get along with each other.
Continually doing different types of marketing to get new members.
Making sure work shifts are covered on a daily basis.

all about growth | It can be financially lucrative, but has
limitations due to maximum number of students that can be in each class.
There are few limits on how many My Gyms you can own, so opening a 2nd
one, or even a 3rd one would increase revenues.
You can also open up another type of business with the experience of
running a business.
