beginnings
how I got started | I was the senior vice president of human
resources at TV Guide when the company went through a merger. I decided
to leave, and really only intended to take a short "time-out" from the
corporate world to work on a book with my daughter. We wrote "A Woman's
Guide to Successful Negotiating," and it was a huge success. Through
that, I received a lot of speaking engagements and opportunities to
train others. I never went back to the corporate world.

very positive way by teaching them how to influence others and

work
my typical day| There is no typical day. If I'm training, I may
be traveling to a speaking engagement, meeting, doing my presentation,
going to dinner with a client. If I'm writing, I may be working on a
book or writing my career column for the New Jersey Star Ledger. I may
be coaching an individual client, or teaching a class: I'm an adjunct
professor at Columbia University. Or i may be promoting my latest book
