of strategic marketing and communications around the world and how to
use it to make a business successful. I am fluent in Arabic, English,

HOW TO GET STARTED | First step is to understand the concept of
strategic marketing. Start by reading books on strategy making and then
more reading on marketing. Books on military strategies and tactics
will also help clarify that difference.

why this job?|
love
why I love this job!| I love making a positive difference in
peoples lives, either by making their lives more comfortable or offering
a personal development opportunity. Working with professionals from
diverse background and in different industries, besides the
flexibility of working remotely and traveling in the US and
internationally is very rewarding. I also love the exhilarating
feelings of achievement I have when I take on a project in a new
industry or in a new country and then successfully deliver it within the
timeline and budgetary constraints.
I help high level teams in clarifying goals and developing realistic
solutions especially in unfamiliar business environments and new
cultural contexts. Most recently as part of USAID project I co-led a
team to Afghanistan in order to determine professional and vocational
training needs of Afghans.
As a strategic marketer I have helped European businesses, educational
organizations and the US international development corporations achieve
their goals and expand market share either in the existing markets or in
the emerging markets.
I am also passionate about contributing to the local community where
ever I reside. Currently as the board member of Interfaith Council for
Peace and Justice I am involved in fund raising and developing
communications materials, among other things.

my typical day|
challenges
what they are | People thinking that marketing is another word
for selling; selling is part of marketing but it is not marketing.
Secondly dealing with different time zones either in the US or
internationally. Lastly digging up information that may not be
accessible publically or deciphering contradictory information
especially in case of emerging markets as it could be time consuming.
upside
all about growth | Growth opportunities are huge provided one
finds the right organization to work with especially in the US because
the employers usually want potential candidates to have an
industry-specific experience and the possibility of bringing in someone
outside that industry is not well received.
Strategic marketing enables one to work in any industry. It also means
that one has to work very hard; one has to familiarize oneself with the
industry, product(s) or service(s), competitors, both direct and
indirect and the biggest player(s) in the industry. The more one does
that the easier it becomes and the more industries one can work in the
long run. During the process one acquires eclectic set of skills
resulting in more employability.
