beginnings
how I got started | I graduated from the Fashion Institute of
Technology in New York City and have 15 years of creative experience in
cosmetics, fashion and visual design in New York and Toronto with the
prestigious Barney's of New York, The Gap, Lord & Taylor, Macy's
Herald Square and Marshall Fields. I loved my work. But I got very sick
with chronic fatigue syndrome and was bedridden for six months. One day,
I looked in the mirror and couldn't believe what I saw- I was bloated,
overweight. I started to work out, just two minutes a day on a stair
step, initially. But I persisted, and within a year's time, I got my
life back. I was thrilled.I knew I wanted to share what I'd learned with
others, so I became a certified personal trainer and created Fit Your
Style.
inspiration
why this job?| I can't imagine doing anything else. I can't imagine not having Fit My Style in my life.
love
why I love this job!| I love the effect it has on a woman, the
confidence she gains through the program. I love the testimonials I
receive, the e-mails I get from women telling me how I changed their
lives. I love being able to work in a field that has changed my own
life, a field I love and am passionate about.
work
my typical day| I get up early, before my family, and work out,
get my daughter up and off to school, work on answering e-mail and phone
calls, work with clients. Every day and every client is different, so I
never get bored. I end my work day about five or six, spend time with
my family and wind up the day with meditations, affirmations and
journaling.
challenges
what they are | I love what I do so much, I have to define boundaries and perimeters. I need balance- nothing is more important than family.
upside
all about growth | There's a huge potential for growth: many
women want assistance in this area. People can handle life's challenges
better when they take care of themselves.
