EDUCATION |
HOW TO GET STARTED | It is always advisable to get certified. You need to have coordinating experience and being able to juggle many jobs at once. Being able to wear many hats at the same time is essential and most of all be prepared with plan B. As most of the time things don't happen the way you planned. My guru has been David Tutera and his books are great to get ideas. I have also written 2 books, one on The Nuts and Bolts of Event Planning and the Nuts and Bolts of Wedding Planning.

why this job?|

love
why I love this job!| I love helping people plan their events, as this is something I feel people always stress about. They want their event to be perfect, whether it is casual party, corporate event or a wedding. Since I have a great pool of vendors I can offer my clients vendors they can rely on to make their event perfect. I love to see my client enjoying their event opposed to being stressed. Their is no greater joy than seeing ones client tell you what a great success their event was thanks to my help.

challenges
what they are | The hard part is to get business. Most people do not think they need your help. Most people get your advice on how to do everything and get the advice free.

upside
all about growth | Start working for someone else to get the experience and then after you qualify try to float your own company. Your best bet is to have a great network, join many networking groups and the best method is personal referrals and word of mouth.
