As a graduate of Aveda Institute, I am able to be both a stylist and a hair therapist. I have worked with a very broad range of clients from innumerable demographics, and get to see personality and personal expression through hair. I also have the opportunity work within any of the facets of cosmetology with my certification, and can't wait to see where it will take me.

HOW TO GET STARTED | It is important to research different cosmetology and hair schools and programs because (as with any other industry) there is a different fit for each different aspiring stylist in a variety of different places, and finding this fit is part of the challenge as well as the beauty of the job.

how I got started | I chose to go to a school that is made by a brand that is eco-friendly and this is something that I get to incorporate in to my life now in so many ways by using their all natural products, and I see this benefit both the environment as well as the quality of the work that I do.

inspiration
why this job?| I am given the opportunity to fix some of the most complex of emotional problems in a very physical, comfortable way, and this is one of the most beneficial aspects of my job. My clients become my friends, and I am able to have people wear my art wherever they go, which is something that any artist in any field would love.

love
why I love this job!| I love my job because I love to make people feel great about themselves, and this is what my job allows me to do. Styling hair is a lot like therapy, both for the client and me. Everyday is a new person, and this is something that I love.

challenges
what they are | As with any job, it is hard to interpret exactly what somebody else wants in their own words and make it live in a way that is both satisfactory to me as the stylist, and them as the client. This comes as much of a beauty as it does a challenge though, which makes the job an adventure as well as a lot of fun.

upside
all about growth | With experience comes tenure in the industry, as well as the development of a strong skillset, which can take you far in this industry as it does with any other.
