Did someone say recession. No kidding, no matter what the pundits say,
tough times are upon us. How deep, how long only time can tell. Whatever fate beholds us, here are
specific things that you should consider doing to survive the downturn.
Network Like Crazy. If you are not on linked in, time you got an account and started building out
those connections. Join relevant groups and most importantly update your profile. Start connecting
with executives and recruiters to build your network out. Seek local networking events and start meeting
people.
Focus Your Brand. This is the time to take a good look at who you really are, what skills you bring to
the table and sharpen your message. Hiring is far and few in between and you want to make sure you don't blow
off an amazing opportunity because you were not prepared. Your brand both online and offline is key to success.
Broaden Your Skills. Use this opportunity to aquire more skills so you are more competitive in the
marketplace. Investing in getting certified, getting a degree or other professional qualification will
help you beat out the competition. Employers are looking for the perfect fit.
Be Upbeat!. For some of you this is first. But, most of us lived through this through before
and the key to survival is to be upbeat. I know this is easier said that done. However, there is nothing worse
than pulling yourself down when you need to be at the top of your game. As simple as this may sound, being
positive and spirited will help you ride the bad days and enable you to focus on success.
